Academic and Professorial Promotions
- Information about requirements and processes is located on the University Human Resources web site.
Applications for Leave
- Standard leave can be applied for electronically by logging into Themis, choosing 'UOM Staff Self Service', and selecting 'Applications' then 'Leave of Absence' and 'Create an Absence Request'.
- Non-standard leave including Long Service Leave needs to be applied for using the HR10 form only.
- Parental leave requires the HR50A form. Use the HR50B form for an Application for Return to Work Bonus.
- For Special Studies Leave, Long or Short (Sabbatical Leave) refer to the PPP (Personnel Policy and Procedures), under section 12.
- Public Holidays observed by the University are Christmas/New Year, Easter, Australia Day, Queen's Birthday and Anzac Day. Labour Day and Cup Day are not observed at their correct dates due to teaching commitments, but are added to the Christmas/New Year break instead.

Induction of New Staff
- Workplace induction is the responsibility of the Department and the new staff member's supervisor.
- On the University Human Resources Division web pages you will find important information about the University Induction process including the University Workplace Induction Guide for Supervisors, the University Induction Compliance Checklist and other supporting information.
- The Department has established an Induction Checklist process for implementation with all new staff. This should be used in conjunction with the University documentation.

- For visitors to the Department , the Visitor Induction form is required.
Staff Off Movement
- Staff resigning or retiring are required to write a letter to their supervisor to that effect, and to complete and sign a HR12 form to enable processing of their final pay, specifying group certificate and superannuation transfer requirements. Periods of notice vary, and are specified in the PPP.
Working with Children Checks
- The Working with Children Act 2005 requires people who engage or intend to engage in child-related work, either paid or voluntary, to go through a vetting process overseen by the Department of Justice. If applicants meet the mandatory minimum checking standard then they are issued with an assessment notice which enables them to take part in child-related work.
- For details of Faculty of Medicine requirements refer to Memo from Prof Jim Angus dated 4 December 2007. This Memo has been forwarded to all Section heads within the Department of Psychiatry.
- An optional clause has been inserted into the Department of Psychiatry Position Description proforma (.rtf) for use when required.
University Staff Card
- Refer to the process outlined under 'ID Card Collection Process for New Staff'. For a library card, you can take your staff card to the University Library where they will add a barcode.
