Office for Gender and Health
Introduction
Twenty-five years of women's health advocacy, research and services has led to an analytical approach on the role of gender in health and to theoretical and practical tools with promise to advance men's health as well as women's. A gendered approach has been called for in which women's health is seen within the context of relations between men and women, and not as a separate component.
Aim
The Office for Gender and Health was established in January 1997 to integrate knowledge about gender and health into existing health curricula at every level and into public policies at national and international levels. The term Office implies a strategic and policy role rather than that of establishing and building a centre or unit.
