Dr Alex Fornito
Dr Alex Fornito, PhD
JN Peters Fellow & NHMRC CJ Martin Fellow (January 2008)
Summary Profile
Dr Fornito completed his Masters (Clinical Neuropsychology) and PhD in 2007 in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at The University of Melbourne. Much of his research to date has used neuroimaging to characterize the trajectory of anatomical brain changes across the course of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Dr Fornito is currently an NHMRC CJ Martin Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and is completing a two-year position in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, UK. He is using graph analytic techniques and complex network theory, combined with behavioural genetic analyses, to understand how genetic and environmental factors influence the organization of functional and anatomical brain networks, and how these networks are altered by psychiatric illness.
